  • Raise Love

Welcome, our little fighter, Lorenzo 🌟! He arrived weighing just 5 lbs 2 oz – which is below the 5 lbs 8 oz threshold that defines low birthweight and immediately faced challenges with low blood sugar. In the NICU, nurses and doctors carefully monitored his glucose levels because newborns’ sugar can swing high or low as their bodies learn to regulate. Low blood sugar is surprisingly common when babies are small or premature, so the team kept a close eye on him and gave him extra feedings and supplemental glucose to keep him stable. Watching your tiny baby connected to monitors is terrifying, but the care we received in Springfield’s NICU was nothing short of amazing.

We couldn’t have navigated this journey without the Ronald McDonald House of Springfield. RMHC‑CTMA believes families should never be separated when a child needs medical care, and they live that mission every day. Since 1991 their Springfield House has provided a “home away from home” for thousands of families seeking treatment, with 21 guest rooms and a respite The House is warm and homelike, with comfortable beds, private baths, a fully stocked communal kitchen and a laundry It even has a playroom, resource center, and More than anything, it gave us comfort and a sense of community while Lorenzo was in the NICU.

We’re now channeling our gratitude into action. The Ronald McDonald House depends on community donations and volunteers to keep families closer. We’ve started a fundraiser to ensure other parents have the same support we did. If Lorenzo’s story touches you, please consider donating, sharing, or hosting your own fundraiser to support RMHC‑CTMA. Your generosity helps keep families together during the hardest days of their lives.

Thank you for lifting us with your love and for helping us turn our experience into hope for others. 💙
